New York, NY (September 22, 2025) – A2IM (The American Association of Independent Music) and the music industry mourn the loss of Alex Machurov, who passed away on September 18, 2025, at the age of 53, after a courageous battle with illness. He is survived by his two children, who were his greatest pride, and by his former spouse, with whom he shared a close and supportive bond in their lives as co-parents. He is also survived by his sister and father.

Alex joined the American Association of Independent Music (A2IM) and the Foundation for Independent Music in 2024 as Head of Business Development. In just 18 months, and despite health challenges, he made significant contributions to the growth and success of the Foundation and to A2IM’s programs.

“Alex’s courage, generosity, and commitment to independent music were inspiring to all of us at A2IM. His contributions will have a lasting impact, and our hearts are with his family at this difficult time,” stated Dr. Richard James Burgess, MBE, President and CEO, A2IM.

Before joining A2IM, Alex co-founded Fandiem, a digital fundraising platform connecting artists, festivals, and fans with nonprofits through once-in-a-lifetime experiences. As CEO and later as a shareholder, he played a central role in shaping Fandiem into a widely admired force for good within the music and live events ecosystem.

Alex’s career spanned leadership roles across some of the industry’s most influential companies and events. He served as Chief Revenue Officer at Revolution Marketing, Principal at hifi Partners Consulting, and Vice President of National Event Partnerships at iHeartMedia. He spent a decade at Superfly, driving brand partnerships for iconic festivals such as Bonnaroo and Outside Lands. Earlier in his career, he honed his expertise at Civic Entertainment Group, Entercom, and Live Nation Entertainment.

Throughout his career, Alex was known for his strategic vision, generosity of spirit, and passion for connecting fans, brands, and music culture. He was a frequent industry speaker, including appearances at FestForums Santa Barbara, where he contributed to discussions on the evolving role of festivals and brand partnerships.

Alex will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the kindness, energy, and resilience he brought to every endeavor. His legacy endures in the communities, colleagues, and family he inspired throughout his life and career.
