Javier Fainzaig is the Founder & CEO of FaroLatino, a leading Latin American music and technology company. He has been a pioneer in the digital evolution of the music industry for over 30 years.
His work focuses on innovation, rights management, and long-term artist development

Tell us about what inspired you to work in the music industry, and how did it lead to the work you do today?
 
My engineering background gave me an analytical framework that, combined with my passion for music, allowed me to see opportunities where others saw chaos. I was inspired by the possibility of applying logical and technological processes to rights management and distribution. This technical vision led to the creation of FaroLatino 30 years ago, transforming it from a traditional distributor into a comprehensive service platform for artists in the digital era.
 
Is there a success story or career milestone that you are most proud of?
 
Without a doubt, the evolution of FaroLatino over three decades. Being able not only to survive but to lead the transition from physical formats to streaming, and now to advanced data management and YouTube, is my greatest pride. Recently, strengthening our presence in key markets such as Mexico and Colombia, along with our active participation in industry forums like FIM Guadalajara, BIME, and Indieweek, has further consolidated this path.
 
Are there any projects you're working on or company updates that you're most excited about?

We are currently focused on strengthening our Publishing division and optimizing metadata through internal innovation processes. I’m especially excited about our content strategy across DSPs, where we apply advanced tools and certifications to maximize our artists’ reach, as well as celebrating our 30th anniversary as a milestone of technological renewal.
 
What's a lesson that you learned early on in the music biz?
 
That operational transparency is the most valuable asset. In an industry that has historically been opaque, applying an engineering mindset to systematize reporting and royalty payments built the trust that keeps our partners with us after decade.
 
What's your favorite part of your job and/or company?
 
The strategic analysis of business development across digital platforms. I enjoy finding the balance between artistic creativity and the commercial efficiency enabled by tools like data-driven marketing.
 
What does being independent mean to you?
 
For FaroLatino, independence means the freedom to innovate without the constraints of rigid corporate structures. It means having the agility to adapt to technological changes—such as the shift from CDs to streaming—while maintaining control over our vision and a personalized approach to each artist.

Favorite song at the moment?

Currently, I’ve been closely following Marttein—his latest EP Espectacular, a work that showcases the creativity of a new generation seeking to challenge and engage the listener—and Bray On, with his latest EP Diamante, produced by Kiko Cibrián, who has worked on some of Luis Miguel’s songs.
 
Outside of your work in music, do you have any other hobbies or particular areas interest/expertise?
 
As an engineer, I maintain a constant interest in applied technology and process optimization. Beyond data, I’ve always been drawn to music as a form of creative expression and a powerful way to build discipline — something I’m currently exploring further by practicing drums. I also deeply value time with my family, which is essential for maintaining balance as a business leader.
 
Any words of advise for rising music industry professionals?
 
Don’t neglect technical training. Talent is the engine, but a deep understanding of digital contracts, rights management, and how platform algorithms work across DSPs is what enables building sustainable long-term careers.
